Crime Gun Intelligence Strategy

It should be noted the following is not all inclusive nor absolute and it does not take into account the amount of or lack of resources a jurisdiction may have.  It is a framework around a successful crime gun intelligence strategy, that could also to a lessor degree be used for all crimes.  These efforts should be policy based and within the framework of all local laws and the US Constitution. This does not take into account a “political climate”.  This framework has been used successfully and it can be replicated in any city in the United States.  It is a team effort and although there will be moments of remarkable individual achievements a win can only be measured by consistent downward trending statistics around the number of people injured and killed.  These strategies are limited to law enforcement activities.  A focused effort on this part, with significant community policing activities will ensure at-risk juveniles will be spared a life of criminal offenses and multiple and/or lengthy incarceration periods. There will certainly be a liaison program and parallel efforts between the police and other municipal agencies to intervene and redirect youth into educational, extra-circular and employment opportunities.   Additionally, efforts must be made to ensure the metrics do not drive the mission.  An agency can easily lose sight of its strategy and instead focus strictly on the metrics. The tactics must be followed with integrity to measure the objectives. In other words, creative people will figure out how to achieve the metrics, without doing the authentic and difficult work.
